Rachel Aelise Cowart Rachel Aelise Cowart, 96, of Milton, GA, passed away on September 14, 2020. Aelise was born to George T. Williams and Susie Rozell Maroney in Elora, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Michael Steven Cowart and Gary Drew Cowart; and husband Orville Cowart.

Aelise is survived by her sons, Lary Cowart (Cynthia) and Patrick Cowart (Maureen); daughters, Larise Hennessee (Terry) and Ruby Mason (Perry); 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Aelise, a graduate of West Huntsville High School, did her part during WWII by working in the Transportation Department at Redstone Arsenal. Then after the war, she became an army wife and raised six children in duty stations that included France, Panama Canal Zone, California, Utah, Colorado, Georgia and Alabama. Later in life, Aelise began a second career in retail; working in department stores in Huntsville and Birmingham, where she formed lasting friendships with customers and colleagues. She retired from Rich’s in 1996.

In retirement, Aelise developed a fondness for a good card game or Mexican Dominos with friends, as well as, silently working puzzles at the dining room table; but her true passion was just spending time with friends and family, especially watching the grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She was everyone’s best friend and confidant because she always put others first. She was her family’s rock of Gibraltar, offering kindness and love. Always a woman of faith, Aelise was most recently a member of the Whitesburg Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville Alabama. A memorial service will follow at 2:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Dream Weavers of Georgia (https://dreamweaversofgeorgia.org/donate.html).

The family wishes to express appreciation to her care givers at Northside Hospital Forsyth, Cumming, GA, for the care, love and support they gave “Mimi.”
