Trung Minh Ha Minh Ha, 76, of Corinth, MS, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born in Da Phouc Hoi, Ben Tre, Vietnam on December 26, 1943 to the late Ha Van Trouc and Tang THI Phoung Dung. In 1973, he married his beloved wife Nga while serving in the Republic of Vietnam Navy alongside the US Navy. On April 30, 1975, the day Saigon fell, Trung was able to secure Nga’s escape. Carrying with them only with their intelligence, bravery, and ingenuity, they nevertheless had all they needed to build an American Dream. The couple traveled by Navy boat to Subic Bay in the Philippines, then to Guam for three months before arriving in Florida. Job opportunities led the Ha’s to Mississippi, where Mr. Ha worked for ITT for ten years, obtained his engineering degree at Mississippi State, worked as an engineer in Memphis for Cortelco, and ultimately completed his career in Cortelco’s Corinth location. Though his life was replete with accomplishments, successes, and accolades, Mr. Ha considered his greatest accomplishment to be the rescue of his wife from Saigon. He quietly lived this uncertain life with the patient confidence that any misstep led him closer to his eventual success. Undeterred by danger, chance, or fear, he lived his life the way he tended his garden – with the quiet confidence that given time, effort, and attention, his opportunities would grow. During his spare time, Mr. Ha enjoyed tinkering with bits and pieces of nothings, turning them into something workable, something usable, something beautiful. In his hobbies, in his gardening, in his life, Mr. Ha lived out his faith – turning each moment into an opportunity for rebirth and renewal. From the chaos of a falling city he spirited his wife to a peaceful home. From the dysfunctional messes of broken cars, he made running machines. From the unforgiving clay of his new home’s earth, he grew a garden. Disaster into peace, broken into mended, nothing into beauty. Mr. Ha’s life could have been one of disaster and sadness, but his courage and fortitude turned it into one of triumph and happiness. A devout Buddhist, a loving husband, and a conquering survivor: the world was a stronger place for having Trung in it. Magnolia Funeral Home – East Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Mr. Ha’s memory include his wife of 47 years, Nga Luong Ha of Corinth; his sons, Tam Ha (Jerry) of Corinth and Tri Ha (Christy) of Mt. Juliet, TN; his grandchild, Lily Ha; his step grandchild, Molly Lambert; his brother, Ha Mingh Thong of Vietnam; his sister, Ha Ngoc Thu of Canada.
