Update from Governor Kay Ivey on Hurricane Sally

Hurricane Sally images: Latest tracks, maps, wind, satellite photos MONTGOMERY-The governor has requested a pre-landfall emergency declaration for the state of Alabama ahead of Hurricane Sally. Governor Ivey had a 5:45 p.m. phone call on Monday, September 14 with FEMA Administrator Pete Gaynor and Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf, where she asked for this request to be expedited. Our Office will continue to provide updates.

Alabama has been approved for an Emergency Disaster Declaration. Governor Ivey has issued the following statement:

 “As we continue making preparations for Hurricane Sally to impact Alabama, I thank President Trump and his Administration for approving our request so quickly. We will continue closely monitoring the developments today, and I urge everyone in the coastal areas south of I-10 and in low-lying areas to take all precautions and heed advice from weather experts and local officials. Please stay vigilant, Alabama.”
