Dorothy Malone McCollum Dorothy Malone McCollum, age 98, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home.

Mrs. McCollum was a member of Lee Heights Baptist Church of Florence.   She was married to her husband, Bro. Edward McCollum, for 69 years and worked along with him as a minister’s wife.  Even in her last few years at the nursing home, she enjoyed attending church services and enjoyed greeting ones at the nursing home.

The graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Knights of Pythias Cemetery.   Officiating will be Pastor Wesley Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Edward McCollum; father, A.T. Malone, Sr., mother, Ada Lou Wilson Malone; brothers, Homer Malone, Jack Malone, A.T. Malone, Jr.; and sisters, Eva Malone, Lila Hester, Artie Porter, and Mattie Taylor.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Glenn (Norma) McCollum of Athens, AL, Danny (Debbie) McCollum of Chapel Hill, TN, Lou Ann (Wayne) Beasley of Florence, AL; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Landers; sister-in-law, Judy Malone; and many beloved nieces & nephews.

The honorary pallbearers will be her nephews and her longtime friend, Tom Freeman.

The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the management and particularly the staff of Station 5 at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center as well as the staff of Amedisys Hospice of Florence.
