Paula Rose Walker Warnes Paula Rose Walker Warnes, 96, a resident of Brown’s Creek for 52 years passed away at home,
September 4, 2020. Born in Chicago, IL, Paula lived in Dunwoody, GA, for 16 years before
moving to Guntersville. Paula was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James (Jim) R.
Warnes, and granddaughter Sara Ruth Warnes. She is survived by her children, Jim Warnes
(Carol), Athens, GA; Joan Kolok (Bill), Owensboro, KY; Dan Warnes (Barbara), Guntersville;
and Robin Howard (Mark), Algeciras, Spain; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Paula was a longtime member of Guntersville First United Methodist Church and the Emmaus
Walk community. Before she retired, Paula owned and operated Placement Experts, a personnel
firm specializing in engineers and other professionals in Huntsville, AL. She was proud that she
built her homes, managing the construction and bidding each item. Paula and Jim were leaders in
their church and she was a mentor to many. They were a team.
Paula valued family and entertained her grandchildren with rides in the lawn cart to her Secret
Garden, hours of playing cards and board games, and passing on the love of reading.
The family would like to thank her Emmaus group, her caretakers Shelley Bennett, Tammy
Lackey, Mike Maynard, Judy Sims, and her special friend Terri Shaddox.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to First United Methodist Church of
Guntersville, or SIFAT, Servants in Faith and Technology, 2944 Co. Road 113, Lineville, AL,
36266.
