Robert Manuel Sappington, 80, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – DeSoto. Mr. Sappington was a member of First Baptist Church of Southaven and was a U. S. Army veteran. He was formerly employed as a welder and retired from CBI Nuclear. He was a mason and enjoyed fishing and playing guitar. He also loved Ole Miss Rebel football and NASCAR, but his greatest pastime was reading and discussing the Bible. He is survived by four children, Jenny Schneider (Matthew) of Walls, Roger Sappington (Susan) of Saltillo, Belinda Hein of Byers, CO, and Pam Belk (John) of Houston; two sisters, Freda Sims (Larry) of Booneville, and Charlotte Hutchison of Tishomingo; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his former wife, Linda Sappington of Corinth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cortez and Charles Haney, and Willie Sappington; a brother, Scottie Sappington; and two sisters, Cleta Ann Yarber and Billie Louise Woodruff. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Sunday, September 6, graveside at Burgess Creek Cemetery, officiated by Bro. Nathaniel Bullard. Interment will follow in Burgess Creek Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. until service time at the cemetery on Sunday.
