C. William “Bill” Allen, Jr. passed away Monday in Franklin, TN.  Although residing in Huntsville for many years, he was born to Clyde and Stella Allen in Davenport, IA.  He enlisted in the Army in 1953 and was stationed at Redstone Arsenal achieving the rank of Sergeant and serving as an ordnance guided missile instructor.  While stationed at Redstone, he met the love of his life, Alline Frasier, a native of Huntsville, and daughter of Richard and Janie (Swaim) Frasier.  They were married for 61 years until his beloved wife passed away in 2016.  Rev. Allen began preaching in 1952 and graduated from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1961 with a Master of Divinity degree.  He and his wife served in various ministries in the Presbyterian Church, USA throughout the Southeast.  They focused on pastoral care for others in need, the disadvantaged, and hunger issues.  He was a caring father, devoted husband and dedicated minister.

 

Rev. Allen is survived by two sons, Tim Allen and wife Lenora, and Greg Allen; two grandchildren, Robert and Wade Allen.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, where the family will receive friends Friday from Noon until 1:30.  Funeral service will Friday at 2:00 in Spry’s Chapel with Commissioned Elder Ed Keith and Rev. Sharon Keffer officiating.  Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Presbyterian Church at 1012 Bryson Road, Ardmore TN 38449, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
