Three People Die In Two-Vehicle Accident Near Athens

ATHENS-On Monday, August 31 the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency report a two-vehicle accident near Athens that has taken the lives of three people:

“A two- vehicle crash at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 31, has claimed three lives.

Nancy Martin Carroll Russell, 80, of Athens was killed when the 2008 Honda Accord she was driving collided with a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Levi Chase Gordon, 30, also of Athens. Russell and Gordon, who were not wearing a seat-belt, were pronounced dead at the scene. A thirteen year-old female in the Honda Accord, who was also not restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred on U.S. 72 near Parker Road eight miles west of Athens. Nothing further is available as ALEA Troopers continue to investigate.”
