Effie Lou Graves Hall, 85, of Athens went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 24, 2020. There will be an 11:30 a.m. graveside service on Thursday, August 27, at Limestone Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Daryl Brooks officiating. Mrs. Hall was a native of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, and a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, Florida. She and her husband, Carl Hall, were married on New Year’s Eve, 1959, and first lived in Tuscaloosa while he finished studies at the University of Alabama. They moved to Athens in 1961 and were active members of the community. She was an accomplished homemaker and a faithful member of Round Island Baptist Church. Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Carl Hall; parents, Ernest and Berith Graves; and sister, Jean Layne. She is survived by her son, John D. Hall and wife, Karen, of Madison; grandsons, Andrew, Philip, and Daniel Hall; and sister, Jackie Grogan and husband, Rogers, of Marietta, Georgia.
