Michelle Rupe Eubanks

Michelle Rupe Eubanks is a native of Florence, Alabama, having attended the city schools, graduating from Coffee High School in 1992 and from the University of North Alabama in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Professional Writing. Eubanks also has a Master’s of Arts degree in English, with an emphasis in Southern Literature, from Mississippi State University.

Eubanks works as the Director of Communications and Marketing at her alma mater, UNA. Before her role at the University, Eubanks had a career in healthcare marketing as well as journalism, working at the TimesDaily, where she won a number of awards for her writing and investigative pieces.

In 2016, Eubanks sought the office of City Council Representative for District 4 in Florence. She won that race and is seeking a second term in office. Among the many things she’s accomplished while in office are:

  • Built the city’s first school bus stop on Hermitage Drive thanks to a suggestion from a District 4 resident; this project was paid through Community Development Block Grant funds.
  • Constructed a pavilion in the Edgemont Pocket Park after community meetings at which neighborhood residents expressed a desire to have more space to enjoy. This project was possible thanks to donations of time, materials, and labor.
  • Replaced a 7’x7’ box culvert under Decatur Avenue, coming in under the $1.2 million budget set aside for the project.
  • Donated the city’s first Tiny Library to the Children’s Museum of the Shoals, which is in Deibert Park, to encourage literacy and use of the museum.
  • Initiated district-wide newsletters and community meetings in order to remain a recognizable presence to constituents and their needs.

As part of her ongoing service to the community, Michelle and her late husband, Jeff, served as the co-chairs of the Arts Alive committee. She has also served on the Florence Bicentennial Committee, the Coffee High School Scholarship Board, and is the past president of the University of North Alabama Alumni Association. She is a member of the Florence Rotary Club and serves as the Advisor of the Theta Alpha Chapter of Phi Mu.

Michelle lives in Florence with her youngest daughter, Ally, a freshman at the Florence Freshman Center, and their two rescue pups, Olive and Martini. Older daughter, Maeve, is a freshman at the University of North Alabama. Her parents, Bill and Mary Rupe, are also proud residents of District 4.
