June Mortensen Garrard, born June 17, 1928 in St. David, Arizona to James Leo and Martha Elizabeth Mortensen, died on August 1, 2020 in Huntsville Alabama.  She has returned to her Heavenly Home at the age of 92 to be with those who passed on before her.

June loved trees, birds, music, singing, teaching, and especially her children and grandchildren.  She would fill her home with her piano playing and singing, as well as accompanying her children as they sang.  June was loved by her family of five daughters, one son, 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She met her eternal husband, Archie Bingham Garrard on June 17, 1946 (her 18th birthday).  It was love at first sight, and they married on June 17, 1948 (her 20th birthday) in the Mesa Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She loved her Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ, and wanted to always obey their teachings and do everything she could to please them and return to them.

She taught piano lessons in her home when her children were young, and later was employed by Sperry Rand as a Secretary.  She was a leader, and taught many lessons for the Young Women, Relief Society, and Seminary in which she put her whole heart and soul into.   When June and Archie retired they loved being Ordinance Workers in the Atlanta LDS Temple and later the Birmingham LDS Temple.   They served in this capacity for 16 years.  She was one of the sweetest people that so many others loved and thought highly of.

She was survived by her husband of 72 years, Archie B. Garrard, her children, Linda Mayes (Rashadd), Susan Joyce Earl (Doug), Jeri Diane Howard (Bruce), Archie Ronald Garrard  (Tran), Jeanette Chidavaenzi, and Katherine Underwood (Keith), and her grandchildren.
