THE SHOALS-Due to Covid-19, the Secretary of State is allowing Alabama voters concerned about the coronavirus to cast an absentee ballot.

  • Check the box: “I have a physical illness or infirmity which prevents my attendance at the polls.”
  • Photo ID required to receive an absentee ballot.

Vote Absentee by Mail

Fill, print, sign, & mail the online absentee voting application along with photo ID. If you would prefer to receive an application to vote absentee by mail, call ypur local City Clerk’s Office. Deadline to request an application is August 20. Mail the application along with a copy of your photo I.D. to your local city clerks office marked attention Absentee Election Manager.

Once your application is received, along with the copy of your I.D., a ballot will be mailed. Complete the ballot and mail it back or deliver in person by August 24. Absentee ballots must be postmarked by August 24 and received by noon on August 25 to be counted. Please place one application per envelope.

Absentee ballot applications must be received in the office of the Absentee Election Manager for your county no later than the 5th day prior to the election.

An absentee ballot returned by mail must be postmarked no later than the day prior to the election and received by the Absentee Election Manager no later than noon on election day. If hand-delivered, the ballot must be in the office of the Absentee Election Manager by the close of business (but no later than 5 p.m.) on the day prior to the election.
