Ms. Janice Ransom Abercrombie Ms. Janice Ransom Abercrombie of Somerville, Alabama went to be with the lord in the evening of Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at the age of 93 years.
Born on September 9, 1926 to the late Robert Dewey Ransom and Ruby Alice Wilson Ransom, Janice grew up in Pine Ridge, Alabama and graduated from Union Hill High School with the class of 1945. She was a member of the New Canaan Baptist Church in Morgan County, Alabama and she very proudly owned and operated “Janice’s Beauty Shop” until her retirement.
Ms. Abercrombie will be forever remembered by her son, Dock David Abercrombie (Beverley); daughter, Amy Jo Slaten (Danny); grandchildren, Clarke Abercrombie Beard (Ralph), Nathaniel Slaten (Erika), Robert Slaten, Samuel Slaten (Yuuki) and David Holmes (Jackie); great grandchildren, Miles Slaten, Dakota Beard, Gentry Beard, Susan Holmes and Scott Holmes (Arlee); sister, Jean Parker; sister-in-law, Mary Ransom and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Janice is preceded in death by her beloved husband Roscoe Truman Abercrombie; daughter, Linda Harriet Griffin; brothers, Paul Ransom and John Ransom.
A graveside service in honor of Ms. Abercrombie will be held at the Cemetery of New Canaan Baptist Church in Morgan County on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with pastor Robert Cruise, officiating.
Pallbearers that will be escorting Ms. Abercrombie to her final resting place will include; Robert Slaten, David Holmes, Ralph Beard, Nathaniel Slaten and Scott Holmes.
