Richard "Rickey" Douglas Blount  Richard (Rickey) Douglas Blount, age 73, of Savannah, Tennessee departed this life at home on Wednesday evening, July 8, 2020. Rickey was a native of Savannah and was born on March 9, 1947 to James Douglas Blount and Katie Sue Freeman Blount. He has one sister, Angela Blount House. He was preceded in death by his father.

Rickey was a life-long member of First Baptist Church in Savannah and served as a deacon and taught a boys’ Sunday School class for many years. He served in the National Guard for six years.

He loved the outdoors and was an avid sailor since the age of sixteen. Over the years, Rickey could often be found sailing on his cherished Pickwick Lake. He also enjoyed snow skiing and driving his TR 6. Rickey earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business from the University of Tennessee at Martin, and he was the owner and operator of Blackwelder’s Pest Control in Savannah since 1982.

Rickey is survived by his wife of 51 years, Vickie Bailey Blount; his daughter Jill Ann Blount Clark and son-in-law James Ray Clark; his mother Katie Sue Freeman Blount; his sister, Angela Blount House and brother-in-law James Stevie House; one nephew, Jason Stewart House of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and one niece, Diana Colburn House Livingston of Brisbane, Australia. He has one great niece, Olivia House, and one great nephew, Sawyer Livingston.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church in Savannah. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 to 3:00 with a memorial service immediately following, with Brother Andrew Bosak and Lewis Harrington officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to either First Baptist Church in Savannah, TN, or Friends of Pickwick Landing State Park (P.O Box 15 Pickwick Dam, TN 38365).
