Mrs. Elizabeth Hall Bunch Walker The “greatest generation” and Lexington has lost another of its own. Mrs. Elizabeth Hall Bunch Walker, or Betty Hall as she was affectionately called by her friends and family, died late Monday night, July 6th 2020 at her residence.

Betty Hall was born on Thursday, August 19, 1926, the middle child of the late Thomas and Eddie Sue Hall Bunch in Lexington, Tennessee where she lived her entire life. She was the longest standing member of First United Methodist of Lexington and a member of the Harry Orio Sunday School Class. Her church was a vital part of her life. You could always count on seeing Betty Hall at all of the church functions as well as coffees, teas, receptions and even funeral services.

In 1948, Betty married her husband, James Walker, and thus began a forty-seven-year union until his death in 1995. She and James worked together most of those years, first, for over twenty-five years when she was the book keeper for Odle Cheverolet and he was the service manager and later in life when they were co-owners of the KOA camp ground until they both retired in 1983. After she left the car dealership, she was a real estate agent with D. L. “Doc” Weatherly and Henderson County Real Estate. Giving back to the community was important to Betty as she was a frequent volunteer at our local hospital as well as Hope Ministries and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed gardening, walking, reading, sewing, cooking and playing Bridge.

Betty Hall, or “CaCa” loved her family and is blessed to be survived by two daughters: Elizabeth (Tony) Holmes of Lexington and Suzanne Dunham of Gulf Breeze, FL; four grandchildren: John (Lulie) Dunham, Kurt (Amanda) Holmes and Grace (Trey) Carter and four great grandchildren: Maggie and Walker Dunham and Claire and Abby Carter. Also surviving Betty is her sister, backdoor neighbor and best friend, JoAnn Armstrong. Preceding her in death were her brother, T.E. “Buster” Bunch; grandson, David Dunham and son in law, Bob Dunham.

Funeral services for Betty are scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday, July the 9th, at the First United Methodist Church and also live streamed on the church’s Facebook page. Rev. Chris Haynes will be officiating and interment will follow at Lexington Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers will be: John and Walker Dunham, Kurt Holmes, Trey Carter, Chris Weatherly, Tom Bunch, Hayden Helms and Alex Youngerman. Visitation for Betty Hall will be Wednesday, 4:00 – 7:00 PM and Thursday, 9:00 – 10:30 AM at Pafford Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the First United Methodist Church of Lexington and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Due to the continued risk of Covid 19, the family asks for everyone to please wear masks at the visitation and funeral service and respect social distancing.
