Evelyn Helms Akin of Hartselle, passed away on June 28, 2020 at the age of 68. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her family and dedicated herself to them. She was an “artist with a needle”, she loved to cross-stitch and made some of the most beautiful pieces of artwork. She was a paralegal for many years and loved anything regarding the law. She was also an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her parents: Onos Trenon and Ressie Jeanette Thomas Helms. She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Akin; sons: Robert (Angela) Chenoweth, Gary Chenoweth, Michael (Janella) Chenoweth, Kenneth (Whitney) Chenoweth and Michael (Anna) Akin; seven grandchildren; sisters: Margie (Fred) Spitalsky, Diane (Mike) Hoops and Ashley (Marshal) Kidd; brothers: Dannie (Mary) Helms and Dewayne (Suzanne) Helms and a host of extended family and friends. Her graveside service will be held at Mt. Hebron Cemetery on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Moss Service Funeral Home directing.
