“Safer At Home” Extended Through July 31

MONTGOMERY-On Tuesday, June 30 Governor Kay Ivey held her fist press conference since May 21st.  Ivey says she will extend the “Safer at Home” health order through July 31, 2020 set to expire at 5PM with no major changes in the order.

During the press conference Governor Ivey was joined by State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris, state Representative Dexter Grimsley and Greenville mayor  Dexter McLendon. Both Grimsley and McLendon stressed the need for all of Alabama to practice social distancing, wearing a mask in public as well as practicing good sanitation.

Governor Ivey stressed the public to always wear a mask when in public places, practice hand washing and social distancing.  Governor Ivey said that it is time for all Alabamians to step up and help flatten the curve of this latest spike in the COVID-19 virus.

Dr. Scott Harris again said that practicing good hygiene and wearing a face covering along with social distancing is the order of the day.  He also reaffirmed Governor Ivey’s statement that states if you do not have to leave your home stay in you are “Safer at Home”.

On the date of the last press conference held by Governor Ivey on May 21, there were 13,058 cases of COVID-19 with 528 confirmed deaths.  Alabama had tested 171, 000 people.

As of 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 30 there were 36,683  cases of COVID-19 with 905 confirmed deaths.  Alabama has tested 392, 800.
