Charles Edward “Andy” Anderson

Charles Edward “Andy” Anderson went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 27, 2020. He was born November 23, 1936 in Breckenridge County Kentucky. After graduating from Caneyville, High School in 1955 he enlisted in the United States Navy. Andy served in the Navy for 22-1/2 years. He climbed the ranks from Seaman Recruit (E1) to Lt. Commander (O4) and served on the USS Fort Snelling LSD-30, USS Northampton CC-1, USS LaSalle LPD-3, USS Seattle AOE-3 and USS Roanoke AOR-7. Andy was a veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis, The Six Day War, the Vietnam War along with many other duties and missions that protect America’s freedom.

Andy was active in The Gideon’s International for over 35 years. He regularly spoke in churches, served local pastors, distributed bibles around the world and held various local and statewide leadership roles along with his wife Dixie.

Andy is survived by his wife of sixty years, Dixie Elaine Hornback Anderson, children David (Dana), Karen (John) and Timothy (Pamela); grandchildren Lara (Curtis), Jordan (Will), Gabriel (Sarah), Hannah (Austin), Michelle, Jennifer (Joshua ), and Holly; great grandchildren Kristyn, Madisyn, Charles, Theodore, Maximus; brothers John, Marvin; sisters, Barbara, Sandra and Reba. His father, Joseph Ezra Anderson, his mother, Sadie Ellen Laslie Anderson, and his sister Betty Ann Schumacker preceded him in death.

Andy will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia with full military honors at a date to be determined. There will also be a memorial at a future date. In lieu flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memoriam to The Gideon’s International. Every five dollars will place a bible somewhere in the world in his memory.
