Bobby Clyde ParkMr. Bobby Clyde Park, 86, passed away at home on Thursday, June 25, 2020, surrounded by loved ones. He lost his life after an all too brief battle with cancer which he endured with courage, dignity, and grace.

Mr. Park was preceded in death by his parents Robert Samson Park and Laura Mae Cannon Park and his brothers Robert Samson Park, Jr., Aaron Harris Park and Walter William Park. He is survived by his longtime good friend, Mary (Cissy) Cates; children Elizabeth Suzanne Gilbert (Greg), Laura Ellen Park (Karen), Patricia Allison Click (Johnny), Janna MacKenzie Park, and Samuel Robert Park; bonus children Mary Cates Hudson (Brian), Susan Cates Goldblum (Barry), and Caroline Grace Westmeyer (Matt); grandchildren Gregory Taylor Gilbert (Jordan), Lauren Elizabeth Gilbert, Jennifer Suzanne Gilbert, Skylar Blake Park, Danny Ashton Park, Tanner Chase Park, Lacey Jade Shelton; bonus grandchildren Beatrice Penelope Westmeyer, Vincent Henison Westmeyer and Samuel Woodham Hudson; four great grandchildren and other beloved family and friends.

After graduating from Birmingham’s West End High School, as President of the Class of 1952, he worked at U.S. Steel while attending Howard College to complete his B.S. in Chemistry. He then worked several years for Southern Research before moving to Decatur in 1962 to start his longtime career as a chemist for the U.S. Army Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal. He was a long-standing member of the Rising Sun Lodge #29 F&AM in Decatur and the Grand College of America Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests.

Throughout his adult life he served in many leadership positions within multiple Freemasonry organizations, the United Methodist Church and was philanthropically engaged with many other charitable organizations. His hearty laugh, sense of humor, love of God, life and people, and big heart of gold will be forever remembered

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Park will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home.
