Lewell L. Smith, 84 of Athens, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Athens Limestone Hospital. Mr. Smith was born June 23, 1935 to Edgar Lutie Smith and Nona Glaze Smith.
Visitation for Mr. Smith will be on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at the church. Private family burial at Athens City Cemetery on Thursday.
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Anglin (Philip); son, Russell Smith (Michelle); grandchildren, Jake Smith, Hannah Smith and Mary Beth Smith; brother, Lowell Smith; sister, Lutie Piedra Davis; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 45 years, Myrtha Duncan Smith.
Mr. Smith was a founding member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. He loved gardening and working in his yard. He was loyal to his friends with a servant’s heart for others. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and granddad.
