O.D. Carter, 89, of Double Springs entered into rest on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Lakeland Community Hospital.

Mr. Carter was born May 10, 1931 in Double Springs, Alabama. O.D. loved the outdoors, especially hunting. He enjoyed getting visits from his kids and grandkids. He loved the Lord, going to church and his dog, Bella.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020 from 6pm-8pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs, where the service will be Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 2pm. Brother James Hood will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Double Springs.

O.D. is survived by his wife, Clora Christine Carter; sons, Thomas Freeman and his wife, Connie, Billy Carter and his wife, Sandra, Teddy Carter and his wife, Marylynn and Allen Carter and his wife, Angie; daughters, Retia Walker and her husband, T.E., Anita Benford and her husband, Lonzo and Freda Salter and her husband, Timmy; 23 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; sisters, Gladys Stewart, Inez Waid and Joann Buckelew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lloyd Carter and Bunia Seymore Carter; brothers, Lloyd, J.B., F.M., L.V., Virgil, James, Walker, Irving, Russell and John Jr.; sisters, Beatrice, Mona and Margie and great grandson, Adam Hendrix.
