Barbara Kay StewardBarbara K. Malone Steward, age 86, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 at NHC Columbia, TN. Barbara was born May 25, 1934 in Detroit, MI to the late John and Martha Wirth Shelton.

Barbara grew up in the Detroit area of Michigan. Upon a visit to middle Tennessee she met the father of her children and love of her life Charles Malone and decided to take him back to Michigan to raise a family. They lived in Detroit for a number of years before looking for a slower pace and moving the family now with 5 children in tow, to Pulaksi, TN. Barbara raised her family with a kind and loving disposition, she was a wonderful mother. In addition to raising a family she worked for over 25 years with General Electric as a line operator.

When Barbara wasn’t working she followed her adventurous spirit. She absolutely loved to travel and if there was a car moving she would get in to see where it would lead. She traveled much of the United States as well into Canada and Mexico. Not only was Barbara adventurous but she was truly kind, and fun loving, generous, maybe even to a fault, but she would have had it no other way. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and one can’t leave out her precious cats and dog. Barbara with her happy, carefree, and loving nature will be greatly missed.

Barbara is survived by her children: Debra (Joe) Vitrano, (Deceased) son David Allen (surviving spouse Bonnie) Malone, Carl (Debbie) Malone, Mike (Donna) Malone, and Cathy (Ronnie) Garland; 14 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren; and siblings: Jackie Parker and Tommy Shelton. Barbara is preceded in death by the father of her children: Charles Malone; grandson: Danny Evans; granddaughter: Kimberly Malone; great granddaughter: Rawlin Plant; and siblings: Pat Jones, David Shelton, and Nancy Drake.

The family will visit with friends Saturday, June 20, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. Barbara’s celebration of life will begin at 4:00 p.m. following the visitation with Rev. Jeff Kane officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
