FLORENCE – Big River Broadcasting’s signature music show, “Muscle Shoals to Music Row” (MS2MR) holds a special performance this Holiday Season. The evening celebrates Country singer/songwriter Jimmy Wayne’s, “Project Meet Me Halfway”. Wayne walked halfway across America in 2010 to raise awareness about kids in foster care who “age out” of the system the day they turn 18 years old.

MS2MR is in its 6th year and is produced at The Shoals Marriott Hotel and Spa Convention Center. December’s event is slated for the 20th at 8:00 o’clock. Jimmy Wayne will perform on stage with fellow singer/songwriters Tony Arata and Pat Alger.

Jimmy’s “Project Meet Me Halfway” has a personal meaning to him. Growing up as a foster child with his sister, Jimmy learned firsthand what is means to “age out” of the system. When a foster child turns 18 years old, their support is dropped by the State. In far too many cases, these teenagers are put out of the only homes they have known and sent into the world to fend for themselves. Many of these kids have special needs ranging from physical limitations to emotional problems. And they don’t have any help. They are just alone.

Jimmy Wayne celebrates his crossing the Arizona state line.

And that’s where Jimmy Wayne stepped in. Back in 2009, Wayne had just come off of a year-long stint of touring with Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley. He says that he “felt very fortunate.” But then he began to feel “guilty”. You can read the rest of his account on his “Project Meet Me Halfway” page on his website by clicking this LINK.

Tickets for the show are $20 and 100% of the ticket sales for the show on the 20th will go to Jimmy’s “Meet Me Halfway Fund” which he created to directly benefit foster youth in need. Call Big River Broadcasting at 256 764.8121 .
