Geraline Garner, age 78 of Sherwood, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Sherwood on December 30, 1941 to the late George Houston and Lynda (Garner) Barnes. Geraline had previously been employed by Lanier and Shaw, and she had retired from The University of the South. She enjoyed reading and cooking for her family, as well as taking trips to the Smoky Mountains and the beach. Her family will remember her caring, loving nature and contagious laughter. Geraline was a devoted member of Sherwood Emmanuel Apostolic Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Garner; and siblings, George Barnes Jr, Dorothy Barnes, Harold Barnes, and Joyce Jackson. Geraline is survived by her loving children, David (Linda) Garner of Huntland, Gary (Kim) Garner of Sherwood, and Debra (Gerald) King of Sherwood; grandchildren, Kandi (Bryan) Schubert of Estill Springs, Tiffany (Jeremy) Coffelt of Sherwood, and Josh (Elexa) Garner of Huntland; great-grandchildren, Megan, Bryanna, and Brookelyn Schubert, Layton Coffelt, and Olivia Garner; siblings, Patricia (David) Jackson, Kenneth (Marilyn) Barnes, Carter Barnes, Michael Barnes, and Ronald Barnes, all of Sherwood; sister-in-law, Sue Barnes, and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Sherwood Emmanuel Apostolic Church. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Sherwood Emmanuel Apostolic Church with Bro. Michael Hill and Bro. Bryan Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Mt.
