Mr. Harry Truman Rogers 72, passed from this life Sunday May 17, 2020, at his Phifer Mine Road residence, from a brief illness. A Van Buren County native, Truman was born on January 10, 1948, the eighteenth child of the late Daniel and Zadie Davis Rogers. A retired machine operator, Truman loved his God, family, country and his community. He served as Captain of the Van Buren County Rescue Squad for several terms and President of the Van Buren County Jaycees for two terms. He was a member of the Doyle Church of God. In addition to his parents Truman was preceded in death by brothers; Charlie, Dan Jr., Rufus, Michael, Jimmy Joe and Tom Rogers, sisters; Dovie Finley, Katie Snodgrass, Sarah Rogers, Marie Rogers, Maddie Prater, Margaret Keener and Evelyn Russell. He is survived by his loving wife; Kathleen Rogers of Spencer, son; Mitchell (Carolyn) Rogers of Spencer, daughter; Wanda (Kelly) Martin of Sparta, grandchildren; Kellie Martin of Savannah, GA, Kirt Martin of Sparta, Canan and Alex Rogers of Spencer, brother; L. B. Rogers of Pikeville, sisters; Elizabeth Davis of Sparta and Bobbie Jean Overby of Spencer. Several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday May 20, 2020 at 11:00am in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Danny Rogers and Bro. David Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Shockley Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday May 19th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Layne Funeral Home. We ask that friends please limit your visitation time to thirty minutes or less and practice safe distancing.
