Leatrice Waddle Cole Nanney

Leatrice Waddle Cole Nanney, 87, passed away Friday, May 15th, 2020 at home in Byhalia, MS.  Leatrice was born October 6, 1932 with her twin brother, Leaton, and was blessed to be the 13th child of 14 children born to Rochford and Amanda Conwill Waddle of Plantersville, MS. Leatrice married Herman O. Cole July 29, 1949, and was married for 25 years before he succumbed to cancer. She then found her second chance at love and married Loyd Nanney of Mantachie, MS on June 6, 1975 and was married for 45 years.

Leatrice enjoyed flowers and tending her rose garden.  She loved music, played the piano, and sang with one of her daughters at numerous churches for social events and revivals throughout Lake County, IL. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandma.

Leatrice was survived by her husband, Loyd Nanney of Byhalia, MS; one son, Herman Timothy Cole (Amy) of Byhalia, MS; two daughters, Vickie Jean Cole Riley (Danny) of Tupelo, MS; and Barbara Sue Cole DeWald (Gregory) of Wadsworth, IL; 9 grandchildren: Jason Carson (Amy), Glen Carson, Jennifer Ray (Brad), Caleb Cole, Noah Cole, Gabriel Cole, Greg DeWald, Jr (Jessica), Grace Amber DeWald, George Andrew DeWald, III (Kelly); 7 great-grandchildren: Hannah Carson, Jacob Carson, Ruthie Kate Carson, Ford Ray, Major Ray, Madison DeWald and A.J. DeWald; sister, Jimmie Waddle Parker of Nettleton, MS and brother, Bryson Waddle, Sr. (Sue) of Plantersville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband Herman Cole; 7 sisters: Lois Waddle Park, Mary Waddle Randolph, Mable Waddle Tallant Scruggs, Winifred Waddle Cody, Lela Waddle, Eudell Waddle Pender and Nellie Waddle Gray; and 4 brothers, Leaton, Edward, Albert, and Earl Waddle.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 19, 2020 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Lee Memorial Funeral Home, Due to COVID-19 and CDC guidelines, a mask must be worn at all times, by all attendees.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Lee Memorial Park with Bro. Jason Carson officiating, one of her loving grandsons. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Note from the family: A special thanks to Mom’s grandson, Jason Carson for officiating her service. Mom would have been so proud and honored. Also, we would like to thank Compassion Hospice, for all the compassion and love they provided to Leatrice and our family.
