Drug Bust Lands Muscle Shoals Man In Jail On Several Drug Charges

TUSCUMBIA-On Wednesday, April 29 Carlos Lataro Washington age 50 was arrested and charged with five counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and one count of Distribution of a Controlled Substance after the Colbert County Drug Task Force received an anonymous tip.

Undercover officers made a controlled  purchase on Wednesday at 273 Alabama Shores Road the residence of the suspect.  The arrest came after a search warrant was issued for Washington’s address by members of the Colbert County Sheriff’s Department and the ALEA drug Task Force.  According to the media release from Colbert County sheriff Frank Williams officers reported finding oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl, crack cocaine and 100 grams of a high-grade marijuana along with a small quantity of methamphetamine.

According to the release issued by the sheriff the pills were being sold as oxycodone, but were actually pure fentanyl.

Officers also reported fining firearms at the residence, a .45-caliber handgun, a .22-caliber revolver and a .44-caliber Colt Magnum handgun.

At the time of the execution of the search warrant there was a seven-year-old child at the residence according to the sheriff.

Washington is in the Colbert County Jail on a $30,000 and $20,000 bonds.
