Athens Man Dies After Being Struck By Train

ATHENS-On Tuesday April 21 Athens Police chief Floyd Johnson issued a statement regarding the death of a man who was struck by a train on Tuesday morning:

“On Tuesday morning, April 21 the Athens Police Department received a call from CSX that a train had struck a pedestrian on the train track between McClellan Street and Pryor Street.

The incident took place around 8:15 AM. Traffic was blocked from Brian Street to Elm Street while the incident was investigated.

The pedestrian has been identified as Wesley Ford Tribble 34 of Athens. He died on the scene. 

The initial investigation into this death points to susicide. The investigation is continuing.”
