Phillip “Flip” Dwayne Thrift,58, of Gurley, passed away Friday.

Mr. Thrift was a retiree from the City of Huntsville Public Works Department with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the New Hope Saddle Club and a lifelong cowboy. Mr. Thrift was a beloved Daddy, Paw Paw, and Birdie.

He was preceded in death by father, Ronnie Thrift.

Surviving are daughter, Amber (Morgan) Ellis; son, Justin (Rae Anne) Thrift; mother, Doris Thrift; granddaughter, Madeline Thrift; grandsons, Wyatt Ellis, Shepard Ellis, McCoy Ellis and Justin Wayne Thrift; sisters, Rhonda (Mike) Birchfield, Donna (Steve) Hornbuckle, and Lisa (Conrad) Morton; multiple nieces and nephews; kindred friends, Greg and Harriet Glover, Shane Glover, Bo Glover, and Adam Glover.

A private graveside service for family and close friends will be held at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, April 1st at 1:00 PM.

Interment will be in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
