Barbara E. Ip, 67, of Huntsville, passed away Monday. Born in Hackensack, NJ, she grew up in Elizabethtown, KY, and graduated from University of Kentucky. There she met her husband, to whom she was married for 41 years. Their son was born in Houston and grew up in Hong Kong, where they moved after Barbara’s retirement from the Social Security Administration. They returned to the US in 1998, settling in Atlanta where their son graduated from Georgia Tech. In 2004, they relocated to Huntsville to open a Great Clips Hair Salon franchise. Barbara enjoyed watching television and movies and loved to travel.
Survivors include her husband, Allan Ip; son, Michael Ip and wife, Laurel, of Atlanta, and grandchildren, Evan Ip and Nathan Ip.
A memorial service will be held at a later time to be announced.
