Joseph J Mastromonico
August 24, 1938 ~ March 22, 2020 (age 81)

Joseph was born in Manhattan, NY in 1938 and moved to Red Hook, NY as a teenager.  He attended University of Buffalo and after graduation entered the U.S. Air Force. He served in the military for over 20 years, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. Then moved to Huntsville in 1987, received a PhD and worked for several local DOD firms.

His parents, Joseph Sr, and Elena Madeline Tuccillo  and older brother, Arnold; pre-deceased him. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen M. Leonard; his three children, Timothy Mastromonico (Jennifer) of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Kara J. Coffey (Richard) of Orange Park,

FL, and Marc Mastromonico (Angela) of San Clemente, CA. He is also survived by his younger brother Charles (Darlene) of Aitken, step-children and numerous grandchildren.

After retirement, Joseph was active at the Senior Center Woodworking shop and in the poetry writing group of Huntsville Literary Society. Joseph was also an avid wine connoisseur and gardener; in fact his favorite activity was raising a glass in his beautiful garden in Five Points.

There will be no formal visitation or funeral, but a “Celebration of Life” will be held after the pandemic is over.
