Jimmy B Smith Jimmy Burns Smith, 82, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at his home in Columbia, Tennessee surround by loved ones. Jimmy was born on April 18, 1937 in Russellville, AL to parents Ollie Curtis and Lassye Marie Todd Smith.

During his life in Maury County, Jimmy spent 35 years working at Occidental, 10 years with the City of Columbia, and owned and operated Biochem Consultants for over 20 years. Jimmy was an easy-going man. His family describe him as a quiet person, although behind his quiet smile he had a keen mind and a caring heart. There were times though that Jimmy wasn’t as quiet, such as when Alabama was rolling on a Saturday afternoon, or when he sunk any of his 4 hole in ones. Other times Jimmy would be deep learning ever more about the Revolutionary or Civil war, he was quite the history buff. He really enjoyed participating in reenactments putting himself into the history as much as he could. Jimmy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great – grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

A private family graveside service will be held on March 21, 2020 at Polk Memorial Gardens, with Matt Beard officiating.

Jimmy is survived by his children: Sandra Kim Norwood, Marye Lynne Smith, Diane Smith (Todd) Mabry, Alison Smith Riley, and Jamie (Lisa) Smith; fourteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Jimmy is preceded in death by his wife: Peggy Smith; parents; and brother: Curtis Smith.

Pallbearers are Dylan Smith, Jonathan Knox, John Colvett, Beau Jones, Jacob Lightner, Jeremy Walters.

Special Thanks to the staff at Avlaon Hopice especially Jo Lane.
