Alabama Army National Guard Celebrates Completion Of Renovations At Fort Cromwell Pickens Readiness Center

FLORENCE-On Friday, February 28 the Alabama Army National Guard held a grand opening and ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of the $2.1 million renovation of the Fort Cromwell Pickens Readiness Center.  Friends and family were on hand to help with the celebration as was the Shoals Chamber.

A little information about the Alabama Army National Guard’s Fort Cromwell Pickens Readiness Center and their renovation:

“Located at 4151 Helton Drive in Florence, the Readiness Center is home to the 115th Signal Battalion. This unit is authorized 200 Soldiers, with 15 full-time unit service members.

The renovation project included: mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades with energy efficient systems; reconfiguration and addition of interior walls, installation of electronic fire alarm, and security systems;
replacement of all interior floors, ceiling
finishes, and interior lighting with energy
efficient systems; upgrade to restrooms and showers;replacement of telecommunications
infrastructure; and upgrade to civilian parking and expansion of military parking.

In addition to deploying for missions overseas, the Battalion serves as the first line of response when disaster hits at home.
During the deadly Alabama tornado outbreak of 2011, the team traveled to Tuscaloosa and Hackleburg to provide supplies and aid to their residents.”
