Roxanne Richards Hardiman

MORGAN COUNTY-On Saturday, February 29 the Morgan County sheriff’s Office issued a statement concerning the arrest of a suspect from Athens who has been charged with several counts of Identity Theft:

“On February 27, 2020, Investigators with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division(CID), arrested Roxanne Richards Hardiman 35, of Athens, Alabama, hiding in a house on Shoal Creek Road in Priceville, Alabama.

Hardiman was arrested for two counts of identity theft and a single count of trafficking in stolen identities. The arrest is the result of a months-long investigation into multiple individuals in Morgan and surrounding counties having their personal information taken and used to open accounts with various financial institutions and obtain multiple credit/debit cards and loans.

While in custody at the Morgan County Jail, detectives with Hartselle Police Department charged Hardiman with an additional count of identity theft. Investigators expect additional charges as the investigation continues due to the vast volume of victims and accounts. Bond is currently set at $115,000.

While an arrest might provide some justice to a family, the result of this type of crime will have long-lasting effects on the credit and financial stability of those involved. Therefore, Investigators urge the public to remain vigilant in the security of their personal information and to report suspicious activity immediately.

Arrests are public information. Any indication of an individual’s arrest does not imply they have been convicted of a crime. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Bonds are set by the courts using the bond schedule set by the legislature.”
