Mrs. Gladys G. Shockley, age 90, passed away Wednesday February 19, 2020 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital from an extended illness. Gladys was a Van Buren County native (Piney Community) and was born on August 9, 1929 to the late James Isaac and Sallie Mae Walling Howard. She was married on July 12, 1947 to the late Jessie Ray Shockley, retired from Wagner Electric and Walmart. She was a member of Bethlehem Church of Christ. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by grandson; Kelly Shockley; great-granddaughter; Jasmine Shockley; great-grandson; Isaiah Vinson, brothers; Robert, Willie, Eli, Charles, James and Walter, sisters; Martha Nordstrom, Bessie Clark, Louise Curtis and Lennie Mae Hodge. Gladys is survived by her loving children; Bonnie (Carl) Roberts, Bobby (Bertha) Shockley, Billy (Glenna) Shockley, Ronnie (Tammy) Shockley. Nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a large extended family also survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 22, 2020 at 2:00pm, in the Layne Chapel, with Bro. Dale Bouldin and Bro. Tracy Curtis officiating. Burial will follow in the Seitz Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday 8:00am till time of service at 2:00pm.
