After a hellish battle against cancer, Pamela Kathleen Malone Edgil passed away on February 3, 2020. Born on August 23, 1950 in Queens, New York, she was only 69 years of age at the time of her death. Pam’s spirit will live on in the hearts of her two children, her grandchildren, and many other family members and loved ones.
Pam’s earlier years shaped her into the strong woman remembered and loved by so many. She attended Châteauroux American High School in France, where she was a cheerleader and had an active social life. She later attended Butler High School in Huntsville, AL when her family moved back to the United States. As a young adult, she embraced the hippie lifestyle and raised her two children to have spirits as free as hers was. To support her family, Pam joined the United States Army as a nurse and later got an associate’s degree in nursing from Calhoun Community College.
Pam dedicated the rest of her life to helping others by continuing her nursing career at Huntsville Hospital, Crestwood, and the Tennessee Valley Pain Center, and through her roles as a mother and grandmother at home. Her love to nuture could also be seen in her beautiful and abundant garden, surrounded by the forest she lived in. She started her mornings with a pour-over coffee and enjoyed reading historical fiction and fantasies, listening to classic rock, tending to her garden and pets, checking up on her loved ones, creating unique arts and crafts, and watching dramas. Although Pam lived a simple life in her later years, she brought an extraordinary amount of love and happiness to her family and friends.
Pam is survived by her mother, Olga Wallace, and stepfather, Harry Wallace. Her brother, James Wallace. Her son, Cameron Edgil, and daughter, Tracy Edgil. Her daughter-in-law, Nikki Edgil. Her grandchildren, Sierra Edgil, Dade Rose, Ashley Edgil, Canyon Edgil, Kendall Duvall, and Kaitlyn Turner. And her many nieces and nephews.
Pam is predeceased by her father, Frank Malone, her sisters, Marcha Malone and Nancy McLaughlin, and her nephew, Steven DuCote.
One of Pam’s final wishes was to be cremated and memorialize a small part of her ashes in New York, near her father’s final resting place. The rest of her remains will be scattered into the ocean near Eastport, New York where her family owned a restaurant.
