Sam Washburn, Sr., age 76, of Summertown, TN passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. He was a native of Lawrence County, TN, retired from Murray Ohio, retired truck driver, and a member of Henryville United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Henryville Community Club, founding member of the Henryville Fire Department, former member of the Lawrence County School Board, and a former Lawrence County Commissioner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Edward and Winnie Geneva Hood Washburn; and his first wife, Marie Washburn.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Washburn of Summertown, TN; two sons, Sam Washburn, Jr. (Tina) and Anthony Washburn (Dawn) both of Summertown, TN; one step-daughter, Bobbie Jo Stafford of Huntsville, AL; and four grandchildren, Rachel Washburn, Embrance Jordan, Michael Stafford and Bryant Stafford.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Monday, January 20, 2020, with Ray Watkins and Michael Stafford officiating. Interment will follow at Henryville Cemetery in Lawrence County, TN. Family suggests memorials be made to the Henryville United Methodist Church Youth Fund.
