SHEFFIELD – Suspended Police Chief Greg Ray will have his day before The Civil Service Board on December 13. Ray was relieved of his duties October 26, by Mayor Ian Sanford over issues alleging poor performance of his duties.
Ray, who has been in Law Enforcement for 27 years, most of that time with the Sheffield force, was given an opportunity to resign with a package that included severance and accrued leave-time. He turned the offer down and chose to appeal the decision with Civil Service.
