Athens Woman Arrested After Her Mother and Step-Father Found Injured

ATHENS-On Thursday, January 9 Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued a statement regarding the arrest of a woman who has been charged with Domestic Violence and an additional charge of Resisting Arrest.  According to the statement issued by the chief they were unable to get a photography of the suspect due to her behavior.  Sheffield has been charged with 2 counts of Domestic Violence/Assault as well as an additional charge of Resisting Arrest:

“Tanya Lynn Sheffield was arrested early this morning on two counts of domestic violence assault second degree and one count of resisting arrest. Officers received a call of a domestic incident at 706 Marion Street. When officers arrived they located Sheffield mother and stepfather in a bedroom room both bleeding from being cut with a knife. Both the victims were transported to the emergency room for treatment. The investigation into this case continues this afternoon. Sheffield was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail. Due to her behavior officers didn’t get a photograph”.
