Margaret Earle Fite 97, of Decatur passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Riverside Assisted Living.  She was born October 25, 1922 in Athens, Alabama to Ruth Walker Carter and Henderson Lester Carter. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Decatur.  She resided at Riverside Senior Living for almost seven years and stayed active playing bridge and participating in all the activities.  She was chosen “Ms. Riverside” and cherished her many old and new friends over the years.  she is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Patterson Fite, her parents, her brothers, Henderson Lester Carter, Jr. and George Alvis Carter.  She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Fite Lovelace and Meg Fite Smith (Lyle); two grandchildren, Jack Fite Lovelace (Jess) and Morgan Smith Rigsby (Casey); four great grandchildren, Jackson Fite Lovelace, Caroline Raeleigh Lovelace, Mary Lyle Rigsby and Carter Hamilton Rigsby; sister-in-law Beverly Hodges Fite; and a host of nieces and nephews.  A graveside service will be held Sunday, at 2:30pm  January 12, 2020 at Decatur City Cemetery with Reverend Jack Lovelace officiating.  A reception will follow at Riverside Assisted Living. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Riverside Senior Living for all the love, care and fun over the past years and to Brittany and Carol of Hospice of the Valley.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church Joy Ministry, 123 Church Street NE, Decatur, Alabama 35601 or Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, Decatur Alabama 35602.  Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family.
