UPDATE: Florence Police Continue working to locate witnesses and to speak with them. We are not looking for any other suspect in this case.
FLORENCE-On Saturday, December 21 the Florence Police Department issued a statement concerning the murder of one person in the 500 block of Long Lane:
“Officers and Detectives are currently on the scene of a shooting that occurred at a residence in 500 block of Long Lane.
On 12/21/2019 at 2 AM, Officers with Florence Police Department responded to a 911 call in the 500 block of Long Lane, to a report concerning a shooting that just occurred. When officers arrived, they locate a black male inside the residence that had been shot. Florence Fire Department and Shoals Ambulance arrived and determined that the male was deceased.
One person is in custody for Murder, Derrick D Turnley, from Florence. The name of the victim is not being released at this time pending notification of family members.
Derrick D. Turnley, 42 of1819 Maple Ave. in Florence has been arrested and charged with Murder.
