L.D. Overton, 64, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Helen Keller Hospital, Sheffield, Al. He was born in Lawrence County, Alabama. He was a factory worker and had worked as a welder for Heil for 26 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, November 23, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Al. with Bro. Gene Cooley officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Golden, Ms. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are his wife of 42 years – Kathern Overton, Red Bay, Al.; two sons – Michael Overton (Lisa) and Matthew Overton (Connie) all of Red Bay, Al.; three brothers – John Lewis Lipsey, Moulton, Al., and John Wayne Overton (Belinda) and Kenneth Overton, all of Hodges, Al.; three sisters – Edna Proctor and Annette Posey, both of Moulton, Al. and Elzora Wolf (Warren) of Michigan; two granddaughters – Haley and Hanna Overton and two step-grandchildren – Seth and Zac Holmes.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Friday, November 23, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al.
