Oba Wood – Obituary

Oba Wood, 77, died November 21, at his residence.  He was born June 10, 1935 in Itawamba County.  He was a member and deacon of Salem Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont with Bro. Kerry Peden and Bro. Roger Wood officiating.  Burial will be in the Belmont City Cemetery.  Deaton Funeral Home Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years-Joyce Credille Wood; two sons-Robert Wood (Mitzi) and David C. Wood (Tammy); five grandchildren-Marty Wood (Julie), Misty Wood, Roman Wood (Fiance’ Maria Martinez), Dustin Wood and Hunter Wood; five great grandchildren-Kaitlin Wood, Morgan Wood, Jordan Wood, Paul Wood and Mackenzie “Gracie” Wood; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents-Garland and Linder Harkey Wood;  a daughter-Kathy Wood; six brothers-Tulon, Burlon, Orville, Bill, Glen and Burton Wood; three sisters-Carmel Thomas, Earline Roberts, Pauline Sartain.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Roberts, Gary Roberts, Joel Harris, Oneal Wood, Eddie Wood and David S. Wood; Honorary Pallbearers will be Shayne Adams, John Taylor, Truman Peden, Bobby Cleveland, Mike Waddle, Dudley Strickland, Jeff Palmer, David Mobley, Ronnie Gholston and Anthony Searcy.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday, November 23 at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont and until service time Saturday.
