TUSCUMBIA– In celebration of the 200th anniversary of statehood for the state of Alabama this Saturday, the citizens of Colbert County will have a special keepsake. “The Bicentennial Trail of Colbert County,” a collection of articles by Debbie Bell Bradford will be available this Friday.

“These articles were written to make the history of Colbert County come to life,” said Debbie Bell Bradford. The booklet includes 70 pages of information about each city in Colbert County and places of historic interest. There is contact information and hours of operation for many locations included in the booklet. “I guarantee that most people will learn something about our area in these stories. Each story has a short history with unique details and ends with a fun fact.” Some of the articles include FAME Recording Studio, The Village in Sheffield, Colbert County Courthouse, LaGrange College, Old Brick Presbyterian Church, Ivy Green -The Home of Helen Keller, Muscle Shoals Sound Studio and many more.

A special section highlights people in the area. “The people interviewed for the articles are in honor of all of the senior adults who have contributed to making the Shoals the thriving community it is today. It was an honor to spend time with such amazing individuals,” continued Bradford.

This booklet is a collection of combined articles previously printed this year to celebrate the bicentennial of Alabama. Booklets are available for purchase for $10 each with a portion of the proceeds going to literacy programs for children in our area. “The Bicentennial Trail of Colbert County” may be purchased beginning Friday at the following locations: Leighton Public Library, Muscle Shoals Public Library, The Rock 310 Bookstore in Sheffield, and Logan Court in Tuscumbia.
