Sharrie Dee Mitchell Sharrie Dee Mitchell, 57, of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday. Sharrie was preceded in death by her father, Russell Lind.

She married Steve Mitchell on October 18, 1980 at Fort Ord, CA. Sharrie was a military spouse who traveled all over the world with Steve and her children by her side. Together they traveled the U.S. and world with stops in Fort Rucker, AL, Fort Bragg, N.C, Fort Hood, TX, Germany, back to Fort Bragg, United Arab Emirates, then back to Fort Rucker where they retired from the military after 27 years in 2002 before moving to Huntsville.

Sharrie was an outdoors person loving to spend time on the beach, lake, and hiking in the woods, deserts, and mountains. She was very active in sports throughout her life playing softball, scuba diving, and especially golf. Some of her favorite times in the last 10 years were spent playing with the grandchildren. She adored them as they did her. She was not only a wife, mom, and nana, but a best friend to all who knew her. She attended St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Jasper where she enjoyed life on Smith Lake.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Steve Mitchell; children, Jenny Mitchell and Stephen Mitchell Jr. (wife, Jennifer); grandchildren, Jackson Mitchell and Alissa Mitchell; five siblings; mother, Ruth Lind; parents-in-law, Richard and Sally Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 4th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, with Father Jonathan Howell officiating. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Leukemia Research Foundation (www.allbloodcancers.org), or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
