Florence Police Make Arrest In Check Fraud Scam From February of 2019

FLORENCE-On Wednesday, November 20 the Florence Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect wanted in a Theft of Property case dating back to February of 2019:

“On 11/19/19, Arrington Lee was arrested on an arrest warrant for Theft of Property 1st that was obtained when he was identified as the alleged offender of a check fraud scam at a local bank in February of 2019. Lee was allegedly using other people’s bank accounts to pass forged checks for a total loss of approximately $3,000.

Lee was also charged with six counts of Identity Theft, 16 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 3rd, 2 counts of Theft of Property 2nd, and 4 counts of Theft of Property 3rd when he was arrested for his recent alleged involvement in a similar, but unrelated, case involving the use of another person’s bank account to pass forged check, in turn defrauding the person and the bank. Lee is accused of using numerous bank accounts with another person’s identifying information to cash forged checks. The loss of funds in these cases exceed $13,500.

Mr. Lee is currently in the Lauderdale County Detention Center with a $230,000.00 bond. If anyone has any information on this case they are asked to contact Detective Justin Wright at 256-760-6578.”
