Franklin County Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Shooting Of His Brother

  SPRUCE PINE-Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver released a statement concerning a shooting that took place in Spruce Pine on Tuesday, November 19:

“On 11/19/2019 at approximately 12:00 pm the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man shot in the Spruce Pine community of Franklin County. Deputies and investigators arrived on scene and located 47 year old Tracy Lee Prince of 293 Rose Lane, suffering from numerous gunshot wounds. Deputies were able to identify the shooter as the victim’s brother Donald Frank Steele who resides at the same address. The victim was treated by EMS personnel on scene and transported by Air Evac Lifeteam to a nearby trauma center.

     Sheriff’s Office Investigators along with the assistance of the ALEA State Bureau of Investigation began a search for the suspect who had fled on foot. Deputies and Agents were able to locate the suspect in a wooded area nearby the scene of the shooting on Rose Lane. At the time of this press release Donald Steele has been charged with one count of Attempted Murder and two counts of Shooting Into an Occupied Vehicle and is in custody at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. The Russellville Police Department also assisted in the search for Steele. The victim was in stable condition as of the last report received.”
