Three-Vehicle Accident Leaves 11-Month Old Child Dead In Athens

ATHENS-On Wednesday, November 13 Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued a statement regarding a three-vehicle accident that occurred in the city resulting in the death of a small child:

“This morning, Wednesday, November 13 at 11:00 the police department was notified of a traffic accident on HWY 31 at Elm Street.

The accident involved three vehicles. There was one fatality and three injuries. The fatality has been identified as Everly Derringer she was eleven months old. I don’t have any updates on any of the injured from this accident.

One person was transported to Huntsville Hospital and everyone else was transported to Athens Limestone Hospital.  Currently the investigation into the cause of this accident is continuing.”
