William Wesley Mitchell (88) died peacefully at his home on November 6th, 2019. Born on March 9, 1931 in Giles County, TN, he was a graduate of Beech Hill High School, a Korean War Veteran and graduate of Alabama School of Trade. After many years in the industrial engineering field, including some time at Auburn University, he retired after 25 years as a staff member at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN, and then moved back to the Pulaski, TN area. He was a member of Cornersville United Methodist Church and a member of the Giles County Methodist Men’s Choir.

A man of many talents and interest, he enjoyed woodworking, welding, metal work, making beautiful and useful items from wood and metal which he often gave away as gifts. An avid outdoorsman, he loved playing golf, gardening and camping while seeing a lot of America with family and friends.

Mr. Mitchell is preceded in death by his parents Samuel W and Bertha Ozell Harwell Mitchell, brothers Morris Harwell Mitchell and Thomas Clayton Mitchell; sisters Carole Ann Williams and Lois Emogene Faulkner and brothers —in-law Jerry S Williams and Thomas F. Faulkner. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Faye Ingram Mitchell, daughters Teresa (Raymond) Flatt, Pleasantview, TN, Patricia Marshall of Nashville, grandchildren Matthew (Wen) Flatt of Salt Lake City, UT, Marcus Flatt of Nashville, Micah (Brandi) Flatt of Spring Hill, TN, Shannon (Dale) Deocales and Robin Winkowski of Nashville and nine great grandchildren. Also sister, Marie (Joe) Ward of Nolensville, TN

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cornersville United Methodist Church, % Barbara Capps, 202 Lynnville Hwy, Cornersville, TN 37047 or Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Visitation will take place Friday November 8th, 2019 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Bennett May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 9that 11:00am in the chapel of Bennett-May Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory, with interment at Giles Memory Gardens.
