Donny GaitherDonny Gaither, 67, of Houston, Alabama passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019.

Bro. Donny was born October 5, 1952. During his life here on earth he pastored several Baptist churches in Winston County and the surrounding area. Currently he was the Pastor of New Home Baptist Church and has been for the last 8 years. Donny graduated from Addison High School in 1970 and was the owner of Gaither Warranty and Supply, a small engine repair shop. He enjoyed camping with his friends and family; hunting, fishing, reading his Bible, watching his kids and grandkids play ball. He loved his family, friends and church family, but most of all he loved Jesus. Completing the new addition at New Home Baptist Church was dear to Donny’s heart and it was his desire to see it finished. If he wasn’t at home, all of his spare time was spent at the church working on this project for the church and community that he loved. Flowers are welcome, but in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the building fund at New Home Baptist Church at 1731 County Road 3159, Houston, AL 35572.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 6-9pm at New Home Baptist Church, where the service will be held Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 2pm.   Brother Donny will lie in state from 1pm to 2pm.  Brother Etsel Riddle and Brother Don Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Moreland Cemetery.

Donny is survived by his wife of 47 years, Anita Gaither; son, Kevin (Tanya) Gaither; daughters, Jenny (Mark) Ragsdale and Nina (Josh) Wilson; brothers, Hollis (Regina) Gaither, Darrell (Shelia) Gaither, Ricky (Delitha) Gaither and Timmy (Susan) Gaither; he was PawPaw to 8 grandchildren, Kourtney Ragsdale, Kaitlan Ragsdale, Jordan Ragsdale, Taylor Wilson, Eli Wilson, Jesse Wilson, Wade Gaither and Bryson Walker and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
